Overview

The primary role of the Director, Inside Sales (Technology) is to manage a team of three (3) sales leaders, comprised of approximately 30 technology sales representatives in the day-to-day activities of the Inside Sales Organization. The Director is responsible for $200+ million in sales and has oversight for the Inside Sales Representatives who handle accounts across multiple time zones. This person reports directly to the VP, Technology/MPS Sales, Operations & Support. The Director will lead/manage a sales region including both quantitative and human resource goals. S/he will lead by defining clear objectives and effectively coaching the teams to optimal performance. S/he will be responsible for collaborating with numerous corporate, field and inside resources in order to grow the inside sales portfolio. The Director of Inside Sales (Technology) would be considered a likely successor to the Managing Director, Technology. The Director, Inside Sales (Technology) is expected to lead with integrity, by adhering to ethical standards of personal conduct and business rules when making decisions or executing tasks and incorporating quality considerations into decision making. The Director, Inside Sales (Technology) is responsible for leading their team to success while overcoming challenging internal and external circumstances. Examples of these challenging circumstances include but are not limited to the following: Complex and aging technology systems. Complicated vendor relationships and requirements. Frequent situations involving multiple stake holders with competing objectives.

 

This role is expected to travel to vendor and customer events as needed.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Revenue and Profitability -This position is responsible for the development and execution of the ISO sales and margin plan for their region. Expected results are plan achievement accomplished in compliance with all selling activities to Company standards and all federal and state regulations.
  • Leading the Team - The Director will hire, train, and motivate the agreed upon management staff to effectively grow and generate revenue within their region. S/he ensures clear understanding of responsibilities, and ensures knowledge is dispersed amongst teams engaged in sales and post-sale activities. Establishes shared expectations to minimize surprises. Understands and addresses potential obstacles to proposed solutions. S/he will successfully lead a team of Sr. Managers, with the expectation of a high standard of performance that exceeds plan, which results in the growth and promotions at all levels.
  • Customer Focus - Coordinate efforts with all other relevant Office Depot Sales organizations to create a unified and professional customer facing presentation of our capabilities, resulting in a cohesive selling approach that drives profitable growth. Assess and weigh competing requirements from customer needs and corporate goals and objectives against available internal resources to minimize risk, ensure quality deliverables, and balance capabilities with capacity.
  • Increase Sales Confidence - Ensure provision of training, coaching, and technical assistance for the ISO sales force at all levels resulting in increased customer penetration and growth. Conduct customer listening and provide evaluations, identify gaps, and provide resolutions and/or alternative solutions.
  • Provide Market Intelligence- The director is expected to stay in tune with the changing demands of the marketplace and provide management with recommendations for assortment and service enhancement.
  • ·Protect and Grow Accounts - Responsible for documenting and clearly communicating account plans and sales forecasts. Ensures accurate understanding of requirements.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience​
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in related field​
  • Experience managing inside sales teams required, technology and technology solutions preferred.
